One of the founders of severn Physiotherapy has teamed up with Katina James from Portishead Parent to provide Portishead with the very first free Women’s Health Fair! It will celebrate International Women’s Day 2020 on Sunday 8th March at Portishead Youth Centre.

These two industrious women have set themselves a goal to raise awareness of women’s health issues locally and to try and improve the care women get for their symptoms. From this shared vision the developed the idea of the health fair bringing NHS and private clinicians together to talk and teach the local community and other professionals for free.

At the event on the day there is a jam packed schedule of speakers on topics such as nutrition for women’s health, explaining the menopause, a Period Party! with lots of freebies, a focus on eco-sanitary wear, skin care, problems after having a baby and cancer awareness form CopaFeel! and lots more.

There are free exercise taster sessions throughout the day including pilates fit, seated yoga, exercise for osteoporosis, meditation and dance therapy.
The main hall at the Youth Centre will be filled with stalls from local, relevant organisations such as Fill Good Pantry (new zero waste shop in Portishead), Waterbabies (safety in water and lots of fun with your baby), stress detection and deep relaxation with Trina Gazzard….and loads more. There are also important wellbeing services available locally for people suffering from mental health issues and abuse who will be there on the day to give 1:1 advice and information.

Kelly and Katina have support from the local MP Dr Liam Fox who has donated afternoon tea for 3 at the House of Commons, as well as local counsellor from North Somerset Council who will be visiting on the day. They have support from the Chartered Society for Physiotherapy, local GP surgery Portishead Medical Group and many other authoritative organisations.

We hope to see many of you there on the day for free advice, education and lots of fun!
