Severn Physiotherapy was founded in Portishead by Skye and Kelly, who share a vision to provide local people with skilled, person-centred therapy where and when they need it. We bring physiotherapy and occupational therapy to you with our expert home visit service.

Our team has extensive experience supporting people with mobility and balance problems, anxiety about falling, recovery from surgery or hospital, neurological conditions and breathlessness.

How it works

Every enquiry starts with a free, no-obligation chat with a qualified, chartered physiotherapist — open to patients, family members and health or social care professionals, with friendly guidance on next steps.

  1. 1

    Free, no-obligation chat

Call us or fill in our contact form for a free, no-obligation chat with a qualified, chartered physiotherapist — for patients, family members and health or social care professionals. We'll listen, answer questions and guide you on the best next steps.

  2. 2

    Home visit assessment

We complete a 90 minute home / care home visit for the initial assessment.

We find out what the main problems are and very importantly what goals the person has. We ask about medical history, medications, falls, previous and current level of mobility, continence, cognition, support currently in place and more.

We assess physical ability including muscle strength, tone, balance, joint range of movement, bed mobility, transfers, stands, gait and functional movement. We check equipment in the home and make sure movement is optimised for everyone involved.

At the end of the session there will be a clear plan tailored to the person's goals of exercise, pain management, functional movement and support.

We send a clear summary with suggested actions to the GP with consent.

  3. 3

    Rehab sessions

For people who would like more sessions, we offer personalised rehabilitation with our team. This is tailored to the goals which have been agreed. Some people require intensive therapy multiple times a day for a short time, for some it's weekly reviews, others might require less intensive support.

These sessions are 40 minutes long with the assessing therapist. Our team often form very close relationships with the person and their support network. We offer advice and education to all involved to ensure the goals can be achieved. We work as part of the multi-disciplinary team both within and outside of the NHS. We make referrals and give options to support people to make decisions for their healthcare.

What our clients say

My father, 91, was suffering very frequent falls and his health was deteriorating. Skye from Severn Physio has been amazing — with the support of carers he rarely falls now, he is doing more and has gained quality time. It has led to greater socialisation and his hearing even seems better. Thank you, amazing value for money.
